WINTER REFUGE

Hello hello....Good Cold Beautiful Winter to you!

I love winter. We get to hibernate! And it's okay to take a nap. And to go to bed a little earlier and sleep in a little longer. And we have permission to not run around as much as we do in warmer months.

And we get to sit still...

Thank goodness for winter. Winter forces me into the stillness that I need, yet am unable to take normally. We get snowed in!!! While it's treacherous outside, it's a big relief to not have to be DOING constantly. Or doing in overdrive! Of course we keep our lives moving forward even in winter- living in New York, we never reeeeally stop, but things do slow down. And this is a good thing- a really necessary thing.

And now, finally, as the light begins to return and the birds start singing in the morning even though it's still freezing outside, we are reminded that warmth is coming. Soon enough it will be warm again and we will thaw out. Thank goodness for the benevolence of nature!

Meanwhile we are getting restless. Our bodies are cranky, tight and stuck from walking on ice trying not to fall down, feeling so cold and hunching over-protecting ourselves from the wind and freezing-ness of it all. For many of us, these months seem endless. It's February and right about now we want OUT!

This is my reminder to give your body the out it so very much desires. And really it's a way in- a way in that release us from all the holding we've been doing. Come out from the cold and onto the table and let's get you melting a little so you have the energy to gracefully get through the last of this winter.

Come take refuge inside yourself.

Remember yourself...all you have to do is show up and breathe.

Warmly,
Ali
